In the fall of 1995, West Main Studios opened its doors in Cullman, Alabama.  Owner and Artistic Director, Rachael Smith Allison began her dance training at age 3 with the Montgomery Civic Ballet.  Rachael attended Agnes Scott College where she auditioned and was accepted into Studio Dance Theatre, ASC’s Semi-Professional Dance Company.  This Company performed acclaimed choreographic masterpieces such as “The Life of the Bee” and “Valse Caprice” (Martha Graham’s works which are staged by the Martha Graham Company).  Rachael has studied under Master Teachers such as Pilobolus Company; Meli Kaye (Doris Humphrey Company Member)/ Semi and David Roche (Pearl Lang and Principal Male dancer with  Martha Graham Company Members respectively).

   Rachael has served on Dance Masters of America Chapter 33 Board as Solo Chairman for the last three years and will move into the Director of Education position this summer.  She is a certified National Tap Examiner through Dance Masters and is also the Director for West Main Studios

Company Dance Program.  WMS Company Dance has won many First Place and Overall Awards on a regional and national level as well as special Judges Awards naming both Petite and Senior Company Dance members Best Overall Technicians for their age divisions. West Main Studios offers a wide variety of genres that center around technique and the development of a strong and well rounded dancer.

West Main Studios offers Master Classes periodically throughout  our regular dance season and as well summer sessions.

the art of dance.
